The OG Checklist

The Essential Wedding Photo Checklist (From Your Photographer!)

One of the biggest things I tell all my couples: your wedding day goes by so fast. That’s why photos are everything. They’re the way you’ll remember the little moments, the big emotions, and all the details you worked so hard to plan.

To make sure nothing gets missed, I always work with my couples to create a personalized photo checklist—and today, I’m sharing my go-to essentials with you! Whether you’re planning your own big day or just want to know what I typically capture, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what I focus on.

Getting Ready Moments

Some of my favorite shots come from these quieter moments before the day really begins.

    •    The dress hanging up (or laid out beautifully)

    •    Shoes, jewelry, perfume, and accessories

    •    Invitation suite and rings

    •    Hair and makeup finishing touches

    •    Candid laughs and champagne toasts with your people

    •    The groom’s details—tie, watch, cufflinks, boutonnière

    •    Getting into the dress or suit (I always bring tissues for this part!)

    •    First look with parents or your wedding party

First Look (if you’re doing one)

If you’ve chosen to do a first look, this is one of the most emotional parts of the day—and I’m always ready to catch every expression.

    •    The walk-up moment

    •    The reaction (his/hers/theirs—pure gold!)

    •    A few intimate portraits right after while emotions are fresh

Ceremony Details & Must-Haves

The ceremony is the heart of your wedding story, and I always make sure it’s documented from all angles.

    •    Ceremony setup before guests arrive

    •    Floral details, signage, aisle decor

    •    Guests arriving and hugging hello

    •    The wedding party walking in

    •    Your walk down the aisle

    •    Your partner’s reaction (I live for this shot!)

    •    Exchanging vows and rings

    •    The first kiss

    •    The joyful recessional—you’re officially married!

Family & Wedding Party Photos

These are the classic photos your families will frame forever.

    •    Couple with each set of parents

    •    Couple with immediate family and siblings

    •    Full wedding party (both formal and fun shots)

    •    Individual photos with bridesmaids/groomsmen

I’ll help organize this smoothly so we’re not rushing or missing anyone!

Couple Portraits

This is your time. I like to keep this relaxed, fun, and full of natural moments.

    •    Romantic, editorial-style portraits

    •    A few playful walking shots

    •    Close-ups of your rings and hands

    •    Wide scenic photos to show off your venue or location

Golden hour is my favorite time for these—it gives that dreamy, glowing look!

Reception Details

Before guests head in, I always sneak into the reception space to photograph every detail you’ve planned.

    •    Tablescapes and floral centerpieces

    •    The cake and dessert setup

    •    Seating charts, signage, and decor

    •    Any personal touches (napkins, favors, guest books)

Reception Moments

This is when the party starts—and I’m there for every toast, twirl, and dance floor dip.

    •    Your grand entrance

    •    First dance and parent dances

    •    Heartfelt speeches and reactions

    •    Cake cutting and toasts

    •    Bouquet toss or garter (if you’re doing those)

    •    Candid guest shots and dance floor fun

    •    Your final send-off (sparklers, confetti, vintage car—whatever you’ve planned!)

Bonus Moments I Always Look For

    •    Letter reading or vow exchange before the ceremony

    •    Emotional hugs and in-between moments

    •    Pets, kids, or special family guests

    •    Quiet moments between just the two of you

    •    Cultural or religious traditions that matter to you

Let’s Make It Yours

While I always have this list in mind, I love personalizing your wedding gallery to reflect you. If there are any special people, traditions, or moments you want to prioritize, let me know—I’m here to help you remember it all.
